Vision
To be recognized as a unique program in the middle East in training dentists on the placement and restoration of dental implants.
Aim
To graduate dentists, who are competent in placing and restoring dental implants to be able to serve the local community.
Program Objectives
1. To provide the participants with the necessary knowledge and skills that will enable them to deal with implants’ patients.
2. To provide an opportunity for the participants to prepare a portfolio of 30 cases that have to be successfully treated under a close supervision of experts’ team.
3. To prepare the participants to gain the eligibility to practice implants in UAE.
About the program
The program has been designed in line with the UAE health authorities’ standards to address the needs of the general practitioners to be awarded the privilege to practice dental implantology in their daily practice and to those with basic knowledge in dental implantology and the opportunity to enhance their clinical skills in a more comprehensive, integrated and multidisciplinary approach.
The program provides prospective delegates with a state-of-the-art learning environment that consists of lectures, problem-based learning, group discussions, hands on, case studies, literature reviews with focus on evidence-based practice, clinical simulations and clinical practice to carry out the program requirements under the guidance and supervision of experienced associates.
A total of 160 CPD /CME* hours shall be granted upon completion of the whole program, divided as follow:
1. Theoretical sessions: lectures, Problem based learning, case discussions, and tutorials.
2. Practical/clinical sessions: Hands-on workshops, Demonstration of live surgeries/video, and supervised clinical performance.
3. Self-study that involves article appraisal and presentation of assignments.
4. Clinical case presentations to be presented before an international jury
The program will be launched in collaboration with the College of Dentistry, Gulf Medical University and in partnership with the American Academy of Advanced Aesthetic Dentistry.
* CPD/CME hours will be granted as per the attendance and the answers to the CPD/CME questions.
Admission Requirements
Applicants shall provide the followings:
1. Dental degree recognized in the UAE
2. Valid UAE License
3. Malpractice insurance
Duration
The program shall be completed within eighteen (18) months and organized on modular basis (18 modules) over the weekends (Friday’s & Saturday’s). It involves 13 clinical sessions.

Each participant will place 30 implants in addition to assisting a colleague placing also 30 implants.
You will be eligible to sit for the Fellowship in Dental Surgery, Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh exam.
The diploma will be delivered by the Elite Academy in partnership with the American Academy of Advanced Aesthetic Dentistry.
Clinical Practice Requirements
1. Appropriate selection of the patients, with commitment till the end of the treatment
2. Patient’s file and consent form: signed by both, the participant and the patient
3. Clinical protocol: Documentation of radiographic findings, diagnosis and treatment planning after involving the patient in the decision-making process and discussion with the concerned supervisor.
4. Implants placement and restorative procedures that are validated by the clinical supervisor signature in the logbook.
Clinical Cases Requirements
Simple and advanced* implants placement (30 implants) in different sites of the upper and lower jaws.
*Advanced implants placement may include one of the following surgical procedures:
1. Ridge augmentation Prior to implant placement
2. Implant and simultaneous bone graft
3. Sinus floor elevation and bone grafting
4. Connective tissue grafting
By the end of the program, the graduate should be able to:
LO1. Evaluate patients who are seeking implants as a treatment modality.
LO2. Formulate a treatment plan for partially and completely edentulous patients.
LO3. Discuss and communicate to the patients the advantages and limitation of different treatment options.
LO4. Select the appropriate implant size based on an accurate interpretation of CBCT radiograph.
LO5. Place and restore single and multiple implants.
LO6. Perform simple bone grafting procedures.
LO7. Apply the medico-legal principles to maintain safe practice.
The lectures, case based discussions/clinical case studies, clinical simulations and clinical practice will highlight the importance of Dental Implantology in daily dental practice, focusing on the challenges dental practitioners face, and providing sound solutions to overcome the difficulties encountered by participants.
Clinical case studies will be shared by participants throughout the duration of the program to discuss their own clinical experience; such approach will ensure that the learning outcomes are met.
All lectures, clinical simulations and clinical sessions are assessed on a regular basis to ensure the level of didactic and clinical competencies, with emphasize on clinical case analysis.
The last module of the program (module 18) will consist of written assessment as well as clinical case presentations and discussion before an international jury, in addition to the Fellowship in Dental Surgery, Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh exam.
Fundamentals of Dental Implants, Principles of Jaw Anatomy and Dental Photography
This module will provide delegates with the fundamentals of dental implants and emphasize on the anatomical landmarks of the head & neck, maxilla & mandible in addition to the principles of dental photography. oral and periodontal tissues and their clinical importance.
The hands on will involve an introduction to the implants systems and the dental photography.
Principles of Diagnosis, Radiographic Techniques & Interpretations and Treatment Planning
This module will emphasize on the various diagnostic modalities (analog & digital), treatment planning, long term maintenance, risk assessment. Clinical case studies will serve as a platform to teach delegates a systematic approach to these aspects such as diagnosis & planning using CBCT scans and different implant planning software. The delegates will be exposed to the concept of prosthetic driven treatment planning through a detailed description of the digital workflow.
Practical: Interpretation of CBCT and formulation of a treatment plan for different cases &Designing and printing a surgical guide.
Principles of Implant Surgery and Medico Legal Ethics
This module will cover the basic principles of surgical placement of dental implants, different surgical protocols and the different armamentarium required for implant surgery. Moreover, the delegates will know how to fulfill all the medico-legal aspects while dealing with a patient, who is seeking implant as a treatment option.
Practical: Implants placement on plastic models.
Implant practice on sheep heads. Practice will involve raising mucoperiosteal flap,
drilling using the implant systems, implant placement and performing different
suturing techniques.
Adjunctive procedures to implant surgery and Guided Implant Surgery
This module will cover the adjunctive surgical procedures that are associated with implant placement. The participants will be introduced to the techniques of socket preservation, bone grafting and different types of bone grafts. Moreover, they will learn how sinus floor elevation is performed and what are the indications of lateral window and crestal approach techniques.

Periodontal Considerations in Implant Dentistry &Clinical Practice
Peri-implant mucositis and peri-implantitis are two inflammatory diseases that affect the success and survival of dental implants and are probably the main causes of implant loss. This module will emphasize on etiology, pathogenesis, clinical and radiological findings of peri-implantitis. Furthermore, delegates will learn soft tissue management in conjunction with implant placement.
Practical: Hands on will be used to teach delegates a systematic approach to the relevant procedures such as soft tissue augmentation using sheep heads.
Implant Prosthodontics and Prosthetic Restorations &Clinical Practice
This module will provide delegates with the basics of Implant prosthodontics and prepare them for the replacement of missing teeth that includes impression techniques and temporization.
Practical: Impression techniques on simulation models
Full Mouth Rehabilitation and Occlusion Analysis and Prosthetic Restorations& Clinical Practice
This comprehensive, multi-disciplinary module will address the challenges of full mouth rehabilitation using facebows, occlusal analysis (analog & digital), impression taking, try in and the restorative phase.
Practical: Facebow record demonstration on simulated patient
Program Revision & Clinical Practice
This module will allow the delegates to review the overall presentations, to evaluate their knowledge through a midterm assessment.
Clinical Practice
Preparation for the final assessment and FDS, RCS Ed & Clinical Practice
This module will allow delegates to prepare themselves for the final assessment and clinical case presentations through clinical cases review and literature review along with the preparation for the FDS, RCSEd. Exam.

Upon successful completion of all program’s assessments and requirements, participants will be awarded the Diploma in Aesthetic Restorative Dentistry by the Elite Academy / The Elite Healthcare Training Institute and the American Academy of Advanced Aesthetic Dentistry.
• Successful completion of all program modules (midterm / final assessments & successful clinical case presentations)
• Validating 160 CPD’s/CME’s
• Completion of a minimum of thirty clinical cases (30) per each participant with various treatment modalities (simple and advanced implants placement) on different sites of the upper and lower jaws
Note 1: If participants were unable to complete the required clinical cases by the end of the program, they can finish the remaining clinical cases along with the next batch at the time of the clinical practice.
An additional fee shall be applied as per the number of remaining clinical cases.
Note 2: It is important to note that the Professional Diploma in Dental Implantology awarded is not applicable to any formal academic degree program or leading to specialized certificate but is an acknowledgement of the participant’s commitment to professional growth and development as each participant will be receiving a number of CME/CPD per module to reflect each delegate’s attendance and effective participation and demonstrate eligibility for the privilege give to the general dentists to place dental implants as per the UAE health authorities.
